Tactical Equipment Review:
AmbiCom GPS Receiver
Let me start out by saying I am not an electronics and technology kind of guy. If it needs batteries then they will die when you need something to work the most. If it’s electric and “water proof” the seals will break when you least expect it – and at the most inopportune time. With that said, there are times when I’d love to be able to climb into any vehicle and know that I had a functioning GPS system. Sure, there are some high dollar tools that will do that, but now, with my laptop and the GPS Navigation Receiver from AmbiCom I can do that with any vehicle I get into any time I need to.

Recreational Equipment Review:
A NITE Watch
No; we’re not talking about a “night watch” as in the guy who walks around punching a clock at various locations. When I was at SHOT Show I saw a booth for the NITE Watch company. Interesting looking watches that were new (to me) on the market. Before I would consider them for serious field use I would have to test one. The reps didn’t seem warmly open to the idea. But when Brigade Quartermasters started carrying the NITE Watch line, I took it as a hint that the watches might be worth a look. Thanks to the good folks at BQ I requested and received a T&E NITE watch and promptly began to wear it 24/7 in all conditions. Here’s what I found out about my test sample and the NITE Watch line.

New Revolution Required
I've had several recent conversations with people I know and respect about how another generation of Americans is NOT being prepared for what we view as a probable (if not inevitable) future. With the Global War on Terror now in it's 7th year, and recognizing the shortage of men and women who are volunteering to put on a uniform (military or law enforcement), we agreed that our society should be concerned. After all, with no men or women to fight the war the war doesn't just go away... we lose it. The terrorists aren't just going to declare peace when we run out of people to fight: they're going to declare victory. As that would result in my children, grand children or other decendents having to live under a fundamentalist and sometimes fanatical version of a religious "law" structure, I'm simply not willing to accept defeat.
